10 Granville Place is profitable in 1939
and in 1921

Mrs Mary Green would seem to be Samuel (the husband of Eileen Maud)'s step-mother

I think this could be Samuel Green in 1911 with parents and siblings

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X954-F94. (Oops, that link is the 1901)

This is 1911.
Samuel Green Head 37 married Coke Oven Drawer
Ruth Green Wife 38 married 14 years 4 born and 4 alive
Florence Ivy. Green daughter age 12
James Edward Green 9
Samuel Green 3. so born abt 1908
Ruth Evelyn 1

GRO down for maintenance, so I cannot look up mmn.

added - a tree has a lovely photograph of parents and I presume the three oldest children.

Pertinent details from a newspaper report

Yorkshire Evening Post
27 April 1940

MAY NOT KNOW OF WIFE’S DEATH
Barnsley Soldier Overseas

Four Children in Care of Grandparents

A Barnsely Sergeant  etc. wife (Eileen Maud Green) has died suddenly

wife of Samuel Green
her mother in law Mrs Mary Green of Granville Place

Telegram sent to husband
oldest child is 9
youngest is 2.

Samuel was already deceased by this date - he had died the day before the inquest according to the CWGC record. It is such a tragic story.

It certainly is tragic.
According to the newspaper article Eileen hadn’t been ill either.
“Taken ill on Thursday Afternoon, witness found her lying on the sofa and she died shortly after.

Thank you so very much for all the information.  Aileen Maud parents had died before she was 7.  And it looks like her eldest sister Lillie Jane who married Samuel Canning in 1918 looked after her as she named her eldest child Canning.  A lot of her sibling had died before Aileen and it’s a very sad fact but I believe her family back in Derry did not know of her death.  Samuel Canning died in 1929 and Lillie Jane died in Jan 1945.  Thank you so much again.
