I wondered what happened to Henry Green after the 1851 Census. I now see that he was living with Lois's father, David Bull, in 1871, and then I found him as Henry Gren in 1861, with both of Lois's parents in Causeway Lane.

I see that William was buried with his first wife. I am not sure what happened to his second, Susannah.

Several trees with the Lockton family, although none are direct relatives of Mary Jane. The two of her surviving children, Edwin and Francis, were living together in 1921: Edwin with wife, Lily, and children, Ivy and William, and Francis with wife Maud Alice and son, James Arthur.

Sadly, Maud Alice was in the Swain Street Wokhouse in 1939 and son, James, in Stoney Stanton. I can't find Francis, although he died in 1954.

Edwin and his wife were in Leicester with daughter, Ivy, and her husband Samuel Halse.

The Leicester Mercury, 29th November 1928

COLLAPSED IN DOCK
-
Young Man Who Left Family in Workhouse
-
Francis Bernard Lockton (30),...collapsed in the dock at Leicester Police Court today when wilfully neglecting his wife and three children who were chargeable to the Guardians.
Claimed that he had left the institution to look for rooms etc.
The Bench remanded Lockton to the Poor Law Institution. As he left the court, Lockton shouted, "It is a shame for me, a young man, to spend my days there."

Some nice messages from her daughter and family when Maud passed away in 1979.

It seems as though William Green was also in the Workhouse when he died

Leicester Journal, 14th January 1881
On the 12th inst., Mr William Green, Union Workhouse, aged 69 years.

And yet the Welford Rd burial record gives William's abode  mas St John St (as per post above). The workhouse was on Sparkenhoe St, a mile or so away. Perhaps William wasn't an inmate per se of the workhouse, but only went there briefly for his terminal illness?

I forgot that I have info re workhouse admissions!

Is this William? The age isn't quite right but neither, I think, is the age on burial?

Admission 8-Dec 1880
Green William   age 64, Box Maker   St. Margaret's
Roman Catholic
Reason for admission; Illness

Disharge 12 Jan 1881
William Green
Deceased

(Being RC would also account for the fanily being in the unconsecrated section at Welford Road)

Wow, you guys have been busy.  I've been looking at John and Susannah's children.
I think they had a second set of twins. Elizabeth Susannah and Thomas  were both born in 1833..
I also have Harriet Akiens aged 2 on the 1841 census but can find no birth for her. I'm wondering if she wSSusanna Akiens' (Green) grandchild as she wS born in 1939, 6 years after John's death.
Thanks again for all the information you've found. I'm very grateful.

I'd guess that Harriet was probably an illegitimate daughter of either Mary or Sarah.

I see Thomas (Thos) in the household, with the same given age as Betsy, but he's at the bottom of the household list rather than arranged in age order with the others so I wonder if he might have been a nephew or something like that maybe? I haven't seen a baptism for him.
