Annetts family Australia

Hi,
Im looking for my Gx2 Gfather Robert Annetts, apparently born in July 1863 in Victoria, Australia. (Worked this date backwards from his death certificate)
Ive found his marriage index (to Caroline Thompson in 1886) as well as his death and probate records in South Africa in 1938.
I cant however find any record of his birth or who his parents are, or anything except for his rates books really.
My mom believes he's a son of William Annetts of Collingbourne Ducis (1831-1908), but from the research Ive done, this doesnt seem to fit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Marriage certificate would have more than just the index.

One possibility for Robert's origins, there is in 1870 a boy of Victoria, Robert Annetts Jones, a neglected child born 9th July 1864.

He was the son of a William Annetts Jones, his father was deceased in 1870, and his mother Jane was earning a small amount of money doing washing and charring. A younger brother Peter Annetts Jones is also on the records. Both records mention another child, who was unwell and who Jane kept with her.

They were all born at PORT ALBERT, Victoria.

His sister Ann Annetts JONES married Robert CLEMENT in 1880 #2122.
