Hi everyone, on the 1871 Census the place of birth for the first person here is transcribed as being Torthwale, Denmark - I think this is wrong but I cannot make it out. Could anyone help please?
Thanks, Luke

Possibly North Wales
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids. They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Emanuel Thomas b.1799 and living in Sale.
The forth line is wrong too. Its transcribed as Colombia but I think it says Colombo - I can't make out the rest of that line either.
Thanks to you both for your help.

FindMyPast has 1871 transcribed as North Wales, and in 1861 it is clearly ‘Wales’

Looks like Penmorfa to me. There is a Penmorfa in Caernavonshire and one in Cardiganshire.

1871 Elizabeth is a second Wife, do you have the M/C to confirm his Fathers name/occp?
