Middlesex burial
« on: Friday 23 February 24 06:01 GMT (UK) »
Hi
Can anyone suggest how you could determine where someone might be buried or cremated in Middlesex?
John Cyril Crofton Sadleir died at the West London Hospital, Hammersmith on 6th October 1926.  He was an Australian visiting London at the time.  I am hoping determine which cemetery he might be buried with a hopeful plot/location number.  Or if he was cremated, where his ashes might have been dispersed.
A lot to ask, but I'm hoping to strike it lucky ;D ;D
Many thanks
Stuart McDonald, Australia.

His will was Probated November - by Mary Elizabeth Sadlier - widow

He may have said where he wished to be buried.

A Copy of the death certificate may give you the address where he was staying (other than the hospital) to narrow down the search.

City directories 1915-1916 and 1920 have him living at 36 Clarendon Road London.

1921, 1924 and 1926 also 36 Clarendon Road, Wandsworth (with his wife Mary Elizabeth)

ADDED
His wife Mary Elizabeth Sadlier went back to Australia 11 February 1927 age 59 widow ship Mooltan -address 36 Clarendon Road.
with her was Margery Renouf Sadlier 29 secretary.
Destination Sidney Australia

They had been living in England for some time.
All 3 John, Mary Elizabeth and Margery are on the 1921 census. ref: FindMyPast

Thanks for your detail, Mary Elizabeth Sadleir did not remarry and died in 1958 in Melbourne, Australia.  Her cremation I can track.  Margery Renouf Sadleir returned to England and died at the National Hospital, Queen's Square, Middlesex 26th July 1937 aged 43, her mother being her beneficiary.
But alas, I'm still none the wiser and have another hunt on my hands. ;D

Get a copy of the will, you never know.

At least the cemetery/graveyard will be in the proximity of Clarendon Road.

Hopefully someone more familiar with the area will be able to answer.
