His sister Kathleen was a witness to his marriage, her birth record link attached suggests parentage of James Kerr and Sarah Kerr nee' Drew

Following on from that marriage on 14 February 1856 at Rathmelton (a.k.a. Ramelton) in Co. Donegal, there are baptismal records for Tullyaughnish Church of Ireland parish (likely St. Paul Ramelton) for parents James and Sarah (no m.s. given) Kerr of Ramelton, with James' occupation recorded as a painter:

- James Henry Kerr born 19 December 1856 and baptised 7 June 1857;
- Anne Kerr born 25 December 1858 and baptised 8 May 1859;
- Charles Kerr born 26 January 1861 and baptised 23 June 1861.

Softly Softly & Gaffy
   You have both been wonderfull producing that information for me, It is interesting to see that even in 1861 it paid to advertise !
    I am having trouble deciphering James Fathers name in the Marriage record  and also Sarah's
father. How do you read them ?

This 1848 marriage in Raphoe Church of Ireland might be related to James Kerr, it's a Charles Kerr, son of Morgan Kerr, servant:
