« on: Sunday 25 February 24 16:56 GMT (UK) »
I’ve just started doing my family tree on my mams side (Hardy)I’ve got info but unfortunately no individual pictures on -
Robert Cole Henderson

He worked for Cowpen coal company before joining the military in December 1914 - the Tyneside Scottish (Northumberland Fusiliers) he was posted to 21st Battalion and commenced training at Alnwick in 1915.
He gained rank of company sergeant major he was also awarded D.C.M - for his bravery at the battle of Arras on 9th April 1917 .
He died 17/10/18

He received medal / watch from the king and a picture is somewhere !!??

Would be grateful if anyone could help me .

Just click on the links to begin search.
Look under his home town and he might be under the 'Every Name A Story' section.
If he is not on you could send his history in and others may come along and send in more.

I agree, to receive such honours from the King .. surely there must be photos somewhere.

There is this above.  No actual photo though, unfortunately.  Perhaps send more info in to email contact person and in time others may come forth with more as often happens on RootsChat. :)

The original hard bound copies of the Illustrated Chronicle are at Newcastle Local Studies in Newcastle City library.  If you can get there might be worth searching other papers too which are held on microfilm.

e.g Newcastle Evening Chronicle, Newcastle Journal etc.
