Per his CEF record, as at 2 August 1916 there was a child Richard Thomas Bloomfield aged 4, as well as George Page Bloomfield aged 12 months.

Added: at the time of his discharge in 1918, George Page Bloomfield was his only living child.

THOMAS, WILLIAM  RICHARD     -
GRO Reference: 1913  M Quarter in NEWPORT (MON.)  Volume 11A  Page 532

Always careful with trees on Ancestry but this one suggests that this "possible son" is William Richard Thomas, son of Sarah Elson. He and his mother appear on 1939 register in Watford, her name Thomas, crossed out and Elson written. According to tree William died 9.8.1998 Victoria Australia. Believe he married an Edith Elson jq 1934 Brentford. Also 2 possible children born Brentford and 1 in Watford pre 1939.

Noticed he went under George Bloomfield on the death record. Have had a quick look under George on immigration lists but sadly nothing so far.  :-\

George Bloomfield - 22 May 1879  Wales  - 8 July 1948 Toronto York Ontario (aged 69 years)

Father - George Bloomfield - Mother  Annie Bloomfield - Spouse Mabel Thomas.

Thanks. The DoB is the one I had in my notes but he gives a different one in his Canadian Army service record (22nd August 1880). At least the date is consistent...... :) :) Its a long document and both dates are used at different times.
I lived in Ardwick, Manchester in the early 1960s as a small child and much travelling of the world has now led me to want to know more about my roots. Carter, Beckwith, Connolly, Heron and Kelly are all names that form part of my family tree.
