Pearsall Family from Birmingham, Boiler Makers
« on: Monday 26 February 24 13:35 GMT (UK) »
I hope that I can get some help from you good people out there, I am looking for the parents of John Pearsall who married Ann Ford at St Philips Cathedral in 1834. From census records he was born around 1814. He was a boiler maker from Birmingham. I have found him and his family in 1841, 1851 and 1861. He died in 1866. I think the clue to him might be his profession as boiler maker as his son's were also boiler makers. His death was registered in Birmingham in 1866 where his profession was given as Boiler Smith. Letitia Handy was present at his death and I think that she was nee Nichols born 1806 to Sarah Pearsall born 1780 and her husband John Nicholls.

At first I thought he might have been the son of boatman Daniel Pearsall and his wife Sarah from Smethwick as they baptised a son John in 1814 in Smethwick but I have ordered some death certificates and their son John was a boatman who died of typhus fever in 1840.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you very much ColC, I had not seen the Tamworth baptism on my searches, I will explore that avenue. I found James and William Pearsall in 1841 and 1851 in Brierley Hill as Boiler Manufacturers. I cannot connect them as yet.

First son Emmanuel circa 1835    If naming patterns were followed John's father is Emmanuel

Second son Arthur circa 1837  named for Ann's father

First daughter Ann 1839  named for Ann's mother

Second daughter Sarah - possibly John's mother.

It was probably Ann's brother Arthur who was a witness at her wedding 9 November 1834 he is also living with them in 1861

They had 11 children that I've found so far.
Emmanuel  -1835/6   bap. 30 June 1837 St Peter Liverpool - father Boiler Maker
Arthur Thomas 1837  bap 30 June 1837 St Peter Liverpool - father Boiler  Maker
Ann 1839
John 1841
Joseph 1845  - 1846
Sarah 1846   - 1847
William   1848
Samuel 1849  - 1850
Samuel  1851 - 1853  -registered 1852 born December 1851
George Henry  1856  -1860 age 4
Elizabeth 1858
--------------

John, William and Arthur are from the Ford famly

Wow amondg, thank you so much for that. By Jupiter I think you have cracked it. They certainly fit, I will look into them. Netherton, is an area in Dudley so the Brierley Hill families fit. I will post back once I have time to flesh the family out. The Steam engine the Stoubridge Lion was made in this area by the Foster and Rastrick Foundry in 1829;  I wonder if the Pearsall family had a hand in making its boiler. I can feel a visit to the area coming on and some industrial archeology research is required.
Many thanks
