William H Barnes died at Little Holland House Broadstairs the address Rosa was living at in 1939,  so appears they were living together there in 1931.

I wonder why probate was needed if he only left £10? especially as it was granted to his widow Edith.

I agree as stated earlier his probate could make interesting reading.

Many thanks for this additional line of enquiry for our ROSA in Hampstead [with its stong artistic traditions].

Have we found Rosa Carter in the 1901 or 1911 census yet?

Has Rosa Carter/Rosa Garlick Carter been found on 1901 & 1911 census?

Have we also established a birth record for Rosa?

Perhaps finding her on 1911 census might be helpful for an address  :-\

I think we can be sure Rosa was living in Broadstairs in the 1930s, the reports of her paintings all say Thanet area of Kent.

Googling suggests she was known professionally as Garlick Barnes.

For info. you can see her signature Garlick Barnes on this Cubist portrait of man in interior

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01t15/

EDIT to add

It’s been established that three of her children were all given middle name Lloyd
added and her first daughter shown middle name Lloyd on 1939 London Electoral Register
with her husband address 12A Meriden Court

Could there be a welsh connection? Was Lloyd her mother's maiden name?  :-\

Lloyd is a masculine name of Welsh origin

One of her sons middle name Mervyn

Mervyn is a masculine given name and occasionally a surname which is of Old Welsh origin
