Hi All just an update recieved the 1939 census for my father Thomas chalmers Lodge. He was in an orphanage called smyllum in Lanarkshire. (Not got a good write up) . According to my brother my father told him he went straight into the raf when he left there . I have done dna with my heritage.  Didn't realise I couldn't upload to ancestory.so have done one there and sent it back. Found 10 close matched on heritage.  Just need to work out on who's side top one is a 2nd cousin .

There was no 1939 Scottish Census - it was a National Identity Register.
