Are you able to post the information you have from your father's birth certificate
and from his mother's birth certificate?


The birth in 1903 gives Mary McAllister Lodge born 1903 Port Glasgow. Mother's name McNeill.

I'm not sure . I remember asking my mum once as they were divorced.and she said he told her he was put in a home at 5. He joined the r a f as soon as he was old enough.  From what I can see his mum had a rotten life .

I don't have his mums birth certificate. Just my father's.

Just seen a copy of the birth for this Mary on a tree also her marriage to a Hugh Pope in Kilbirnie 1938 her occupation was domestic servant so maybe not the right person

I don't think this mary mcallister lodge is his mother. I did ask my sister where she got this info. From. But she wouldn't say. I have emailed the gentleman who posted this info on his tree.but he hasn't replied yet

Your posts/ answers have been slow to show on the board. However they are now there. Thanks for your response.


If you look at the 1921 census at all the entries for Mary Lodge (you are lucky it is not a common name), and remove those too old or too young to be a mother in 1930, you can quickly whittle this down. The most likely does seem to be Mary McAllister Lodge born 1903 Port Glasgow.
From a very quick look at that family, Mary’s mother died in 1906, and then her father died in 1926.
You might find some DNA links there, as there were older siblings for Mary.

Mary McAlister Lodge married Hugh POPE in 1938.
(Possibly a son born in 1941)

She died aged 77 in 1980 -  KILBIRNIE, BEITH AND DALRY
