I should have mentioned that in my family the name that has been used was the surname so in your example the Ritichie name would have been used as a first name such as Ritchie Pink or John Ritchie Pink or William Ritchie Pink.  In looking at these names you then have to be careful to eliminate the surnames of your own ancestors being used as first names, you some time get maiden names used that way or 'family' names that have been passed down so that all the children get a second name of along lost family name.
