Thank you again Osprey. Good of you to explain your methods!

There were quite a few William Popes around Devonport and Stonehouse back in those days...

I think you did find the George Pope records thanks. I was planning on following the baptisms records back to William Pope 4 years earlier.

I was surprised to see Eliza did not sign her name - I thought all of the siblings were educated in that generation. William senior signed with an X but junior had a very good signature.

I'll have to try to track down all the family in Ford Park Cemetery next.
