William Knight (1804?-1865) and Jane Bloomfield (1805-1878)

Hi, I'm after some help to try to ascertain parents of William Knight who married Jane Bloomfield in Margate Kent 4 Sep 1831 and moved to Ararat, Australia in 1849 (aboard ship Mohamed Shah, with children Jane, Emma Sydney, Charlotte and Theresa) - Passenger list has his occupation as 'Tailor'. 

I have conflicting information for William's parents, so am trying to confirm if his parents are Samuel Knight (1774) and Dinah Holley (1775) or other (eg Thomas and Mary).
The William Knight who moved to Australia in 1849 is my third great-grandfather and he is buried at Ararat Cemetery (along with wife Jane).

Any of the children born after 1837?GRO index will show mother's maiden name.Do you have Wiliiam's death certificate which should show parent's names?Have you found an obituary?

The Births, Deaths and Marriages Victoria website provides only 1 corresponding death entry that I can see.

It gives his parents as Samuel and Dinah Holley. To be 100% certain, you would need to see a copy of the certificate to ascertain whether the death date matches the one on his gravestone (i.e. 5th March 1865, if I'm reading it correctly).

Thank you Queenie.  Yes, that is the correct grave site link for William and Jane (the photos in the link were uploaded by me).  I also have the BD&M link, but hadn't thought to re-check it after I was advised I had the wrong parents (I got so confused by it all)   I will apply for a copy of the death certificate so I can confirm details - thank you so much for the suggestion and the time taken to look into it for me - greatly appreciated

Thank you so much.  I haven't been able to find an obituary (however I am planning a visit to Ararat Library to view old newspapers and the cemetery index cards, so hopefully that will provide some insight).  I will also apply for a copy of William's birth certificate.  Many thanks for taking the time to look into it for me and respond - it is greatly appreciate

I have purchased a copy of William's death certificate, which has (thankfully) confirmed that the information I have in my family tree is correct:  Parents Samuel Knight and Dinah Holley.

I have purchased a copy of William's death certificate, which has (thankfully) confirmed that the information I have in my family tree is correct:  Parents Samuel Knight and Dinah Holley.
It also lists his cause of death, birth location and marriage location (and lists his children) - which all match with the information I have listed in my tree.
