Went to shop today, Morrisons had some lovely left over Mothering Sunday Flowers, had been £10 on Saturday but today £1.
I got two bunches and took them to The Cemetery nearby where the baby grandson and also son of my dear friend and neighbour from my previous home are buried.
Also in memory of my friend and her husband who are buried up at Crawshawbooth ,up the Rossendale Valley. I can’t get there so put a spray on the grave here for them. They were the grandparents of the baby .
The snowdrops are all over now but daffodils in abundance .
I enjoyed the little walk.
An ex pupil is buried there too, a great pity, and our ex Churchwarden who reached his 100 th Birthday had git Maundy money from The Queen and made her laugh with his ( true) story of the cardboard tanks in The Western Desert.
Made to fool the Germans, they were cardboard ,supply boxes painted and covered with netting but not too well !?They fooled the Germans.
His grave is totally neglected , and he still has family in Ramsbottom.
His name is still not on it and he died about ten years ago, what a shame.
Have been making little newspaoer pots to plant seeds in.
They decompose in the soil when seedlings are planted out ,so no root disturbance.
Fold one side of a tabloid double sheet in half across.
Wind this round a small glass jar ,with the edge of the paper level with the bottom of the jar.
Tuck the extra paper in to the open end of the jar, pull paper off ,reverse the jar and put it in the paper cup and tamp down what you have folded in .
Pull out jar.
They are quite sturdy and the roots grow through when put in situ.
Well daughter’s Mothering Sunday card to me has still not come ,she posted it early in the week too, so it would arrive in time.
Much milder temperature today , which is good,just got my energy bill Whew! Gas- for hearing and hot water -;
Hope all are O.K.
Viktoria.
