Jebber that was a surprise,  I expect  you had a lot  to talk about.

After such a reasonable few days I had promised  myself that I would mow the lawn this week,  woke up this morning  to rain again, no chance of mowing , it is far to wet, I need a couple of sheep or goats at this rate,   the mower will struggle.

I am on the coffee rota at church, today,  instead of our service being 09.15,   which suits me it has been changed to a joint service at 11am, it is not my rota day but I have been doing the someone else's turn who is recovering from cancer to help her other half,  what a mistake that I am doing  today, the other person doesn't  pull her weight, it will be  busy being  mothering Sunday, but hey ho that's life.

Bumble B, pleased your eyes are settling down  you will be surprised how much better you can see and how much brighter things are, I remember having  to wear sun glasses if the sun was out due to the glare.

Viktoria, hope you managed to contact your friend.

Enjoy mothering Sunday today.

LM

I've just enjoyed a rather laid back Mothering Sunday. No expensive rushed meal out (by request), but just my children and grandchildren coming round for a cuppa and a slice of cake and lots of fun.  I had made Merry Berry's Orange Drizzle Cake, a lovely sponge cake with orange butter cream filling, which is always successful.  It's a light fluffy sponge with good flavour and my health-minded daughter cut small slices because of the sugar content!  Chocolate Fingers and a bowl of crisps for the children completed the feast.  I had planned to serve salmon with new potatoes and broccoli for supper, but it's after 5 o'clock now and we don't feel very hungry yet, so I might postpone the salmon until tomorrow and just have a bit of salad.  We are supposed to be on a diet, having been away for the past week and eaten too much food.

Hope everyone has had an enjoyable day… despite the continuous rain and dull skies in our neck of the woods!

As my daughter said in her card we had our Mother’s Day on Friday.. I went to stay with them from Thursday to Saturday. I visited my cousin on Thursday for lunch and then my daughter and I went to the V & A on Friday to see the Chanel exhibition… it was wonderful the garments were exquisite , the workmanship beautiful and designs, materials all delightful. My Mum used to wear the Chanel styled suits back in the day. It was a delightful day to spend with her and have some quality time together.

Today is her day with her boys .. football matches in the rain this morning 😩😩 and then out for lunch.

Wishing everyone the best for next week

I have to say that my daughter and I banned Mother's Day a long time ago.  I though that it was horrendous that prices went up around this time - extracting extra money from children  8)  :-X :-X and so we abandoned it.

Lovely surprise yesterday. A friend from the local Methodist Church, where Jane and I had begun to attend on a regular basis and intended to move our membership there from our current church ten miles away, brought a posy of daffodils from their service. Very thoughtful gesture on the first Mothering Sunday without her.
Also messages from the boys, one in London and one in Australia-but the Australia Mothers day is on a different date so there will another message later on.
Not yet sure about when to return to a Sunday morning service. I go along to their Saturday coffee morning, which is nice and relaxed and they are all very friendly.
The temporary (I hope) loss of my driving licence, following my Christmas fall, is limiting my activities, but I have support in that direction from friends and neighbours so I can manage with the necessary trips to hospital and shopping and so on.

How strange Jeff, I wondered yesterday that you hadn't been online  or I hadn't seen you, and here you are today

That was a nice gesture from your friends.

Our priest did a fantastic service mainly for  the children, we had the biggest congregation apparently, I was on coffee helping out when the other person  wasn't well enough after having chemo, fortunately I didn't t have to do the washing up which we normally do, 3 very kind  ladies did the washing up and putting away, that was a huge help, normally we use chunky mugs, far to big in my opinion but yesterday we had cups and saucers, I was surprised how many declined a saucer, easier without.

Well we are into another week now, how time is flying by .

Hope everyone had a good weekend, take care.

I hope all are well, or improving if you are unwell.

Despite the MH370 aircraft documentary, there are not any new facts.

This recent event is getting a lot of searches ...

Both Pilots asleep, radio contact lost for 28 minutes, aircraft veered off course apparently?
