George Gregg/Craig/Craige 4x Grt Grandfather
« on: Tuesday 05 March 24 09:58 GMT (UK) »
My cousin and myself are trying to find any information on our 4x Great Grandfather.

He is the father of Robert baptised 3rd June 1827at Wath Upon Dearne, Yorkshire.  His baptism shows father George Gregg and Mother Mary.

There is a George Craig buried at Handsworth 7 April 1840 age 41.  We cannot find a death on GRO
George was not on the 1841 census.

On Roberts Marraige to Ann Walker: Robert Gregg, age 23, Batchelor, Occupation Miner. Place of Residence Lord Street. Father George Gregg a Miner.  Witnesses: Joseph Walker and Harriet Walker

Can anyone help us.  Thanks

1851 has Robert living next door to his mother - his birthplace is shown as Pointon Cheshire & further census entries confirm Cheshire as his birthplace

Brother Benjamin was born 1835/36 so George could have died before 1.7.1837 when Civil Reg was introduced.

1841 entry was indexed as Ruth Gragg & a few later census entries have been corrected from Craig/Craige etc

Wife is Hannah on census entries but childrens births confirm her maiden name was Walker
