Regarding the news article about the drowning in the Condamine River in 1861 ...

There is now a “Loudon / Loudoun Bridge” over the Condamine River near Dalby.

I don’t know if this has anything at all to do with your search, but “Loudon” / "Louden" would be the more usual Scottish spelling for “Lowden”.

Neale 1961 that's interesting re the Loudon Bridge.  Will have to investigate that.  Many thanks the story is becoming more interesting.
