Not a Lot to go on
« on: Friday 08 March 24 23:07 GMT (UK) »
Seems most posts start the same when looking up a soldiers service record.........................mine is no different  ::)

I'm looking for my wife's father, William Parkinson, born in Manchester 31/10/1919 which made him 20 at the outbreak of WW2.

Family story is he fought in Egypt but that's about it, she doesn't know ANYTHING about his war record, other than his favourite saying was "I've got sand in me boots, I know what I'm talking about"...................and I don't think he meant it was from Blackpool beach  ::)

Any help would be great, specifically where to look.

William Parkinson  4 February 1891 Steel erector

Thanks for that Scotsmum.....................done it  ;)

That's them amondg and your right, as a 20 year old at the outbreak of WW2 he would have thought of it as an adventure.
Not sure he had a good war though, my wife comments on his sharp temper and his 2nd home being the pub, which could be the result of his service.
