East Anglia Pedigrees Vol 13 - Gooch of Hingham
« on: Saturday 09 March 24 21:32 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

Does anyone have access to this book, and more specifically, the pedigree for Gooch of Hingham on p82?

I have Chancery documents received from the TNA of a case involving my 9 x ggf Wheatly Gooch in 1691 regarding land in Hingham and Deopham of which he is heir. His father was Thomas Gooch who died about Jun 1687. His will was proved in 1689 but is unable to be copied by Suffolk Archives, and I'm stuck!

I would be most grateful to anyone who could provide a copy of this pedigree to help me break down this brick wall please!

Thanks in anticipation,
Samantha
Most of my ancestry is from the Midlands area of England. I was born in Birmingham, but a lot of my ancestors are from the Black Country. So I am a Brummy but also a Black Country wench (hence the Yahoo nickname!)

I think I've found it at FamilySearch:

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-89C5-QVJV?i=49&cat=423510

If that doesn't work, it's on film no. 007413448, image 50.

If you haven't already done so, you'll need to register (free) and log in to use the FamilySearch site.
Researching among others:
Bartle, Bilton, Bingley, Campbell, Craven, Emmott, Harcourt, Hirst, Kellet(t), Kennedy,
Meaburn, Mennile/Meynell, Metcalf(e), Palliser, Robinson, Rutter, Shipley, Stow, Wilkinson

Census information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Thanks so much, I'll go take a look! They have the book in their book section but it's unavailable due to copyright, so I'll try that link instead!

Is he the Wheatly Gooch, deputy governor of Barbados?

He was the Deputy Clerk of the Naval Office to John Cornelius in Barbados (the subject of another Chancery case in 1719 brought by Wheatley's mother). I was not aware he he had later progressed to Deputy Governor, that's interesting! Do you recall where you found that information?
