Hrmm....
There is an advertisement to teach piano lessons by Leah Levy in 1910, giving the same address as of that Dr Moses Harris Levy; 14 Salem Hill, Sunderland.

Looking her up on the 1911 (and maybe someone has already mentioned this) leads to the father being an Isaac, not Jacob, and a dealer in furnishings, his wife Minnie, and a bunch of kids.

Leah signed as the one filling it out. (Same parents ten years later)

Please let us know the results of the marriage registrations!

Harold PEMBERTON lived next door at 24 Falkner Square if anyone with access wants to have a look  ;D

Debra  :)

There are a number of articles in Oct 1926 about a dispute at an infirmary, but one in particular is badly OCRd and impossible to read but says something about him being born in England and educated in 'Gormley' but I think that is supposed to be Germany.  It is from 26 October 1926 in the Liverpool Echo if anyone is able to also have a look at that to see what it actually says.

Debra  :)

I believe that this Isaac Levy is a sibling of Hyman Levy, the husband of Fanny Harris.
So Dr. Moses Harris Levy was the nephew of Isaac Levy.

Hi Dundee,
I have attached a small clip of the article.
It is a long article, and very hard to read; the clip is the clearest part, so we can't blame the OCR for this one.... very smudgy!

It seems that Dr Harris's appointment with the University had to be renewed annually, and for some reason, they replaced him.  He started a civil suit over. It's a lot of legal wrangling, and it was said his students lost faith him, but there was no real explanation.  And no actual outcome that I could see!

Isaac and Minnie Levy and family,  in 1901, lived at 29 Burlington Road, Sunderland.... not the right house number, but the right road from the opening post.
