German WWI Military records.
« on: Sunday 10 March 24 22:45 GMT (UK) »
Good evening, I have a collection of German WWI Medals, Imperial German Iron Crosses and a large number of "The Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918" sometimes, and wrongly, called "The Hindenburg Cross".
The Honour Cross was established in 1934  by an order dated 13 July, to commemorate service of the German people during the First World War.
One of the Honour Crosses I have has a presentation certificate with it, and I was wondering if it was possible to find records of the recipient.
The cross is one which was presented to "Surviving widows and parents of fallen participants in the war", it was awarded to:
Frau Dora Gille, nee Lehrmann, from Braunschweig, does anyone know what would be the best place to search German records, ideally I am looking for her marriage as this would give me a possible link to her husband or son who perished in the Great War.
Many thanks to you all for reading my post.

Frank.

Probably this guy:
Rudolf GILLE
Death: Mar 29 1918
Burial: Vignemont, Oise, France
Burial place note: Ossuaire du cimetière militaire allemand

FYI:
http://www.picardie1418.com/fr/decouvrir/cimetiere-militaire-allemand-de-vignemont.php mentions “1.531 dans un ossuaire”
