GRO birth records

It is a while since I've used the GRO site and I  am trying to search for births in the 1950's. When I go on the pull down arrow to select the year of birth the selection of years in the list stops at 1934 and restarts at 1954. Is this a temporary or have I made a mistake?

There is a gap on the GRO.  I use freebmd to cover that period
Census information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Thanks for your swift reply rosie99. I hadn't realised that there was such a gap but will do as you suggest and use FreeBMD
