Ellen Sheehan of Doneraile
« on: Friday 15 March 24 08:43 GMT (UK) »
Good morning.

I'm researching the Sheehan Family who in 1911 lived in Buttevant Lane, Doneraile.   In particular I'm looking at Ellen Sheehan born around 1897.  Her father was Jeremiah and her mother was also named Ellen nee Aherne or Ahern.  Can anyone assist please?  I have been informed that at some point she left Ireland and came to England.  If this is correct then it would have been post 1925.  I've attempted to try and find her here in England but to no avail.

Kind regards,

Kathryn

Thank you, is there anywhere that I can look up for her birth please?  Catholic family though.  I can access irishgeneaology.ie but I I haven't been able to find anything.

Thanks again for your time and help.

Likewise, I've been looking on IrishGenealogy for her birth 1896-1898 but nothing so far. There are 18  Registrar's Districts in Co Cork.

See Shane Wilson's website - https://www.swilson.info/regdistmap.php and input Cork as the county.

Thank you Kiltaglassan.  I'll try and navigate the link you gave me, the little grey cells don't work so well these days.

If that is your family in 1911 as posted, here is 1901 census.

https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Cork/Doneraile/Buttevant_Lane/1128509/

Father Jeremiah is not present, just mother Ellen and the child Ellen - Nellie.

This will be ‘Gurry’ s birth - Jeremiah b 1899. The father’s residence is ‘unknown’ - perhaps working away.

Kindest regards,

Kathryn

Perhaps it would be best if you post who/ where you definitely have the family which links to the Ellen Sheehan you are searching.
Presumably your link is to a sibling, perhaps?
Where do you have her mother’s name as Ahern/e?
