Dear Listers

I'm trying to find out more about a great uncle of mine (known as Uncle Wally) who was born in Devonport 18.6.1919 and was the brother of my grandfather (George Roberts). He died in 27.6.1987 in Camden London.

I believe he married Janet (unsure of her maiden name) and possibly lived and worked overseas (Singapore and Hong Kong I believe).

Trying to trace when and where they married as I'm struggling to find records.

Any help you can provide would be appreciated - thank you

Here's what I can see
William was appointed to the Admiralty Clerical class 12 Dec 1936 ,article London Gazette.
1939 he's still at home with his parents in Plymouth and unmarried.
12 Dec 1944 he is a Temporary Leut Commander.
He was cremated at Barnet 1.7.1987

I'll see what else I can spot

Is he buried Scotland?

Looks like he married Janet W Downie

Thanks so much for the rapid reply.

My Dad he remembers 'Uncle Wally' returning from where he served in Singapore and Hong Kong. Then I think he married (we think Aunty Janet) and had 3 children - possibly born outside of the UK but believe they lived in Scotland for a time

Cas - the link you provided temporarily opened a photo of a grave which I think shows my relatives resting place. When I tried again to open it it took me to an Ancestry site again?

Ancestry is prob not letting you view as not a subscriber..it can sometimes give you a glimpse, hoping you will sub.

Possibly the marriage is in Scotland or overseas..not spotting anything in England/Wales.
