FindMyPast has this travel record
Passenger lists  leaving UK to Singapore 1956
free search with Roberts/Singapore/1956  has William Richard and Janet Wilson Roberts plus three with names similar to the children in your post. If this is the correct family, all three registered in England.

Thanks again Comberton for your help.

I purchased the passenger list information and it is indeed the family.

My father believes that my Great Uncle worked as a civil servant in Singapore for a year or so, and that he returned in 1958 (he recalls meeting him in Plymouth with the 3 children).

Do you know how I could try to trace their return back from Singapore?

Thanks

Drobbo

Have you looked at the Singapore library's online digitised newspapers?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Hi Forfarian - I haven't heard of this but will Google search and see if this identifies anything.
Thank you

Hi - maybe although my father remembers meeting them when they returned in 1958 and he thought they came home by ship
