Catherine/kate Armstrong
« on: Friday 15 March 24 22:49 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone Iam looking for a news paper article on my Great Grandmother.
 Mrs Kate Armstrong of Trim.
She was claiming a war pension payment after one of her sons was K.I.A in 1915.
I believe she was the first mother in Ireland to be granted this payment.
Before She passed away in 1919.
Thanks for any help with this.

The only army pension document I can see is a pink index card for son John indicating that pension to the mother was refused because of 'no prior dependency' (dated 2 August 1916).

Thanks for the reply.
Yes she did get refused at first. But appealed and won. They did an interview with her which was in the news paper.

If anyone could point me to the news article I would be most grateful
