A question, is it possible to buy earthworms.?
I have never seen even one in my garden, not one.
It can be very wet ,so perhaps that is why.
I need to enrich and lighten the soil.It is black and always wet.
Perhaps some sand - I must look it up- might help too.
It will be interesting to see if there are any worm casts when I out some sand on top .
Viktoria.
I don't know anything about buying earthworms, it probably is possible, you can buy pretty much anything these days! I'm sure they'll be there somewhere Viktoria, possibly just deeper down.
I have clay soil too, the upside is that it's very rich in nutrients but it's a devil to dig. I've checked on the best treatment for it, sand isn't recommended, it would take far too much to make any difference. Recommended options are organic materials such as manure (yuck!) or composted bark which sounds much more pleasant. It's available to order online, you could probably get it delivered from your local garden centre or failing that, good old Amazon does it of course!
I've been taking advantage of the lovely weather to do some gardening and actually sat reading in the warm sunshine in between. Couldn't believe how warm it was, this morning I went for a walk wearing a sweatshirt and thick jacket, this afternoon was wearing much less, sheltered from that cold wind.
I've dug out quite a lot of perennial geraniums, they're lovely when in flower but tend to take over the garden.
