William Smith marriage

I am trying to establish the marriage details of William Smith. Born Hull c1790. I have a potential marriage with Margaret Davi(e)s in 1812 at Stockton-on-Tess  24th February, but the record on FindMyPast has no spouse's birthplace.(William)
The 1851 Census shows them living in Gateshead with Margaret's birthplace as Stockton on Tees. Is there any other link I can use to establish if these are the people I am researching? This also shows William's birthplace as Hull.

As this is pre-1837, it is not unusual for there being no parish recorded for groom and/or bride.  I've found a lot of marriages just record "of this parish" which possibly means that both or either party were only there for the 3 weeks required for the banns to be read.

Plus as the FindMyPast entry is from Northumberland and Durham FHS, then I would take the details as reliable.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!

This doesn’t help, but the transcription at Durham Records Online simply says that they are both “of this parish”.
