Miriam Gardner

Miriam was born 9 Mar 1897 Stockton. Her parents were Joseph Gardner and Winifred Hartshorn Foster.  She married Harold McKie(shown McKay) in 1921 Durham. Harold died 8 May 1938 Durham and his death was reported by J Gardner described as father-in-law.
In 1939 Durham there is a Miriam McKie dob 16 Jun 1898 living with a Gardner family but none of the Gardners seem to be her immediate family assuming this is my Miriam. There is a note with her name suggesting a change to Kipling and dated 25/4/49 but I can find no marriage to go with it. There is also a Miriam Kipling death in 1974 Surrey Mideastern associated with the 16 Jun 1898 dob. I checked the Surrey Electoral Records and there is a Mariam Kipling living in the Epsom area but no husband shown.

I think twins June and Miriam born 1936 but they appear to be blacked out so possibly still living

He was possibly the same man previously married to a Mary Jane Hutchinson "Jennie"  Hardy, in Durham, Sep Q 1925
She died 11 Apr 1951, Durham, was of Greencroft Lowes Barn Bank, Durham. and Probate to her husband, Sydney Kipling, Coal Merchant
His DoB was given as 3 mar 1898 on the register at 51 Gilesgate, Durham.

You mention none of the Gardners in 1939 appear to be her immediate family.......... do you know whose those Gardners were though? in relation to your Joseph Gardner.

Unfortunately not. I have not traced Joseph's family as yet with the exception of wife Winifred who died in Manchester 1926.
Miriam daughter June appears to have died 1950. Name shown as June Wendy

Looking at the electoral register, there's a George and Miriam Foreman at the same address as Miriam Kipling in 1957

Miriam Foreman's maiden name is McKie

I don't think they were married long

Do you have the wrong parents, or the wrong Miriam? This looks like the Gardners with whom Miriam McKie was living in 1939. Is she their daughter and not the Stockton Miriam? Might explain the different date of birth?
