You could rule out the 1871 marriage one way or the other but it would mean buying a copy of the marriage cert

The NZ obit for Charlotte Butcher says she died 1929 but doesn't give any age or origin.  A tree on Ancestry has her born Feltham  and living in Sussex in 1901!!

What documentary evidence do you have that Charlotte Butcher was nee Austin & was born in Bucks

If we assume the Goddard is correct….(and I am NOT saying it is, but worth thinking about)

There are these births in NZ

Registration Number   Family Name   Given Name(s)   Mother's Given
Name(s)   Father's Given
Name(s)
1874/22591   Goddard   Amelia   Charlotte   Henry
1876/11719   Goddard   Williamina   Charlotte   Henry
1878/8730   Goddard   Alice   Charlotte   Henry
1880/8481   Goddard   Harry   Charlotte   Henry
1883/4838   Goddard   James   Charlotte   Henry
1885/9296   Goddard   Mary Jane   Charlotte   Henry

And then just these Butcher births

1893/5645   Butcher   Charlotte   Charlotte   Henry
1890/12672   Butcher   Cicilia   Charlotte   Henry
1888/19182   Butcher   Thomas   Charlotte   Henry

Which if it was them, means a name change between 1885 & 1888

Alice Goddard b 1878 fits age wise for Alice White the wife of George Frederick. Alice died 1959 age 81. See NZ cem record set.

And Millicent Wood (address unknown) in the probate could be this marriage
1893/4040   Amelia   Butcher   Septimus Henry   Wood
(Find a grave https://www.rootschat.com/links/01t2j/)
Added to say…perhaps commonly known as Milly? Which would explain the Millicent.

James Goddard. Born 1883
James Butcher died 1917 age 34

(It is James’ daughter who is the Dolly Wallace of the probate (actually Madre/Madra Dolorosa)

Sarah Ann Warnock’s death?

1943/19481   Warnock   Sarah Ann   70Y

I can’t find a birth for her. I wondered if she was the Williamina b 1876, but age at death seems too far out.
On the other hand, cannot find a death for Williamina

Where do you see the Wallingford information?
Do you have a child’s birth certificate?

“Exton”,  on the death cert, is in Rutland

There is an 1872 marriage there of a Charlotte Austin to an Edward Mapperson in Rutland
I have to leave this for now, but can that Charlotte be ruled out?

I would not have made a connection with Godard I was just looking for butchers, but you ladies I don’t know how you do it.
This has all come about through DNA matches and their small tree’s I have been trying to double check before I go down the wrong root.
Thank you all again kind regards Sue

I suspect this could be Charlotte’s death
MAPPERSON, CHARLOTTE       31
GRO Reference: 1874  D Quarter in BOURN  Volume 07A  Page 223

Added…so that rules her out as a contender for Charlotte BUTCHER
