Hey everyone,
I'm trying to find if there are birth, marriage and death records for Sensburg, East Prussia (now known as Mragowo, Poland) and where to find them. In particular records prior to 1865 if at all possible.

On the familysearch catalog for this location, there seem to be some parish registers and also land tenancy records.

Some of these are only viewable at a FHC.


Census information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Are there Family History Centres outside of the US? I'm in Australia.

I'm not sure which religion they were, but their last name was Steinau if that gives a clue.

I asked that because it is not possible for anyone to help you with so little information.
Sensburg has 3 parishes:

Sensburg
Sensburg Landgemeinde
Sensburg Stadtgemeinde

the Births, deaths and marriage records from the 3 parishes before 1865 add up to over 4000
Nobody has the time or oppurtunity to search through so many records with soley a surname to go on.

If you want any chance of help, be more precise.
i.e. looking for a death record of Wilhelm Steinau 1850-1860

I took the time and had a look at the records of the 3 parishes and found an index register of births in the parish of Sensburg Stadtgemeinde

I found a Wilhelm Steinau married to Amalie Manze
they had 6 children:
Wilhelm Adolph born 1827
Gustav Theodor born 1833
Johann Rudolph born 1835
Julius Franz born 1840
Heinrich Wilhelm born 1842
Maria Mathilde Agnes born 1844

Let me know if you think they are your people and iŽll see if i can find more info.
