To add to  Mary Jane's story, Alfred Meek is with his mother and one of his sons in 1921. He had a sad end to his life in 1930, before Mary's death. As her probate lists her as "wife of" she probably didn't know he was gone.

I believe he was separated from his wife and she too was in a mental health unit. According to the article of Edward in 1929.
