McWhinney families of Bangor, County Down
« on: Friday 22 March 24 03:02 GMT (UK) »
Our ancestor Margaret McWhinney is buried in Bangor Abbey Graveyard (d 25 Jul 1842 aged 52) along with her husband Samuel Edgar (d 18 Oct 1861 aged 79).   I am having trouble finding any additional details on Margaret and how she might link to other McWhinney family in Bangor.  For example, also in the abbey graveyard are the graves of Hugh McWhinney (d 8 Mar 1832 aged 74) and his wife Jane Wilson (d 5 Apr 1842 age 76) who could perhaps be her parents based on their ages??  We're also wondering whether there is a link between Margaret and the ongoing presence of the McWhinney families in Bangor (e.g. McWhinney Sausages which have been around since 1898). Any help or advice on where to search would be very much appreciated.

Bangor Abbey's earliest registers were destroyed in Dublin.
St Comgall’s CoI, Bangor are transcribed on RootsIreland.
