Old English Occupation
« on: Friday 22 March 24 14:07 GMT (UK) »
Hi:   In the 1901 census, my relative is listed as "Silver Filler" White
I have checked back through the census to see similar occupations, and the word White is entered.  I have tried to find what the "White" signifies, but no success.
Can anyone please help me with this?  Thanks!  Robang

Thanks for your quick reply.  It certainly opens yet another possibility.  I tended to lean towards Silversmith, as this was the occupation listed for him in the previous census.  Also, the word White, wherever it appears, seems to be in another handwriting, and is entered after various occupations in the silver, brass, copper industries.  I will read up on Whitesmith, however.   Thanks so much for your help.   Robang
