need help finding a death certificate
« on: Friday 22 March 24 16:20 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I've finally found burial information and a burial number in the burial register for my brickwall ancestor, but still unable to locate a death entry. I've searched the GRO entry's and drawn a blank.  It could be a transcription error in the index.  Any ideas on what I can try next?  Is there a way to use the burial register details to find a death entry and certificate?

Thanks to anyone who can solve this for me.

What is the name of your ancestor?

What date was he or she buried and where?

You can search similar sounding surnames or phonetically similar surnames on the GRO but you may have already tried this option.

Have you also tried the Free BMD index?
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

Free BMD is much more forgiving and flexible than the GRO

Hi,
His name is James Halladay d1879 Derby buried 21 Nov 1879.
I've tried similar sounding and phonetically similar alternatives but nothing.
Also tried BMD but no results

Perhaps he did not die in Derby but elsewhere and he was buried in Derby.  Deaths are registered in the district in which they occur.

Could this be him?
James Halliday aged 63 death registered Belper RD Vol 7b p348
