Curiosity, may have missed it - but what was the marital status on the remarriage to Alfred Meeks ?
Was she widowed or divorced ?

Wasn't Mary's marital status in the 1901 census "widow"?

I think the 1901 census reads as married?

We haven't ordered their marriage certificate yet and I have only managed to find their marriage index as of yet

Not all census (1901 census 31 March 1901)  are correct. Sometimes women used "widowed" as a marital status even when the husband is living.

That would discount the 1902 death record in Marylebone if he'd already passed away.

Catch 22 - the 1909 marriage may confirm she was widowed but that may not have happened by 31 March 1901 but perhaps by quarter 1 of 1902  :-\ :-\

Sorry Kay Didn't see your reply - apologises.

I believe that there is a fair chance that he came from Vienna, so I'd be rather suspicious re a German Siegmund  ....

Is his name quite a common one in Vienna?
