Ruskufkey/Ruskufka/Russcuffsca-Smith
« on: Wednesday 27 March 24 11:52 GMT (UK) »
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post. I am looking for help with the marriages of the males in the family of Thomas Charles Ruskufa-Smith. The name Smith was probably adopted when the children were born, but all were born in the Limehouse/Ratcliff area of Middlesex.
Thank you in advance

You can use freebmd to find any from 1837 onwards.  Tabitha married in June qtr 1841

www.freebmd.org.uk

Use www.familysearch.org to try & locate those pre-1837

However - unless they used the Rus** name as well as Smith - you may struggle

I am looking for help with the marriages of the males in the family of Thomas Charles Ruskufa-Smith. The name Smith was probably adopted when the children were born...

I can see baptisms for most of the children (1809-1828) - none of them recorded as Smith.
Some of the daughters married under Smith, with variations of Ruskufa for their middle name.

As you need marriages for the males have you found any of them in census reports? If so, are they going by just Smith? If they're married see if you can cross-reference possible marriages with the wife's name in the appropriate time-frame. Work around possible marriage years using the oldest child's (if any) birth year.

For reference, here are most of the baptisms mentioned in the Ancestry tree screenshot:

Charles Rescusska    born 1809, baptised 1817  Stepney
Thomas Rescusska   born 1809, baptised 1817  Stepney
Eleanor Rescusska    born 1809, baptised 1817  Stepney
Tobithy/Tabitha Recupsha   born 1820, baptised 1820  MEOT
George Russkusska    born 1827, baptised 1828  Stepney
John Russkusska    born 1827, baptised 1827  Stepney
Jane Russkusska    born 1828, baptised 1828  Stepney

I have not found any census records. As I am not able to match the correct spelling, or anything like it, which matches a record I'm stumped.
I've checked for deaths but nothing.

Do you have their parents in any census records?

It's a shame you don't have any of the sons in census reports. Particularly if they married using only SMITH.

Where does this family fit into your FH?  Are you descended from one of the children?

If so - is it one of the children whose marriage you are looking for?

I have found the mother of the family on a census living with her daughter Tabitha.
My interest in this family is through a person who is searching her ancestors who marry into mine. The common ancestor I believe is  Thomas Charles Ruskufa-Smith. It was purely by chance that a grt grandfather of hers was living among ancestors of mine. They were gypsy people. Mine originally  from London hers arriving in Herefordshire.
