I think there is no connection between James Winfield and Frances, James married Frances Eaton in 1838. In the 1841 census Frances and James are living or staying with a William Eaton age 71 so could be Frances's father

Back to the drawing board, thank you for your help.

Most trees have James Winfield marrying Sarah Webster in 1828, with Children George, Elizabeth and James, who all married with James as their father.

They then have James and Frances visiting the Eaton family in 1841, with two of the children. They have the marriage to Frances Blore, rather than Eaton, in 1838.

The 1851 census doesn't state that Frances was related to the Blore family which she was visiting.

Did someone assume that she was related to the Blores, rather than the Eatons, and everybody copied it?

David

Sorry but I do not have any links as I could find nothing, I have not been able to find a baptism etc.

I’m a bit confused; if you have no baptism record and have no other source for her, how did you discover her existence? Presumably she is mentioned somewhere?

(Sorry if I am missing something)

See reply 7 from Sandra on the page above. I used it a couple weeks ago and it worked perfectly.

Its a long story Queenofthe West, but many years ago before so much information was online a contact from Genes sent me details from her Blore tree that an elderly relative had undertaken by visiting archives, graves etc, over time I have been checking via census the usual way, obtained certificates etc for this family line and everyone so far has been 99% proved back to 1837. All the siblings I have found baptisms for except 2, one being Frances the other is Eli (his name may of being shortened) even the sister born prior to the parents marriage had been baptised naming Jane Harrison as the mother. I hope this answers your question.

Thank you for the link regarding ancestry.

Oh to be back with ancestry, find my way round ancestry although FindMyPast useful and my membership finishes with them on the 12th. Anyway I have found a marriage to a George Harrison in 1835 anyway something to work on wandering if Frances even exists maybe Sarah's middle name was Frances?

Glad to help  :)

wandering if Frances even exists maybe Sarah's middle name was Frances?

My grandfather was a family history obsessive and he compiled a lot of information over the years that I went through bit-by-bit. I started to research his grandfather (Laurie), but could not find anything at all. My grandfather wrote in his notes that Laurie had "4 brothers, and a sister called Mary." Bearing in mind that my grandfather actually knew his grandfather, I thought the information seemed plausible. Many years later, I found out that Laurie had actually been adopted and had taken on the surname of his adopted parents. More than that, he grew up an only child, after his younger sister, Louisa Mary Julia, died as an infant. His biological mother disappeared after his sister's birth; I still don't know what happened to her. No idea why my grandfather thought Laurie had 4 brothers and I would have spent an eternity looking for them even though they did not exist!
