RAF Service Record (Albert Henry Parratt)
« on: Tuesday 02 April 24 19:14 BST (UK) »
Hi
I'm currently piecing together my grandads(Albert Henry Parratt)  RAF service records.

I think I've been able to piece most of it but there are still some sections that I am finding either hard to read or can't seem to find information on.

I have added the original service records to see if anyone can help on the bits I'm stuck on or shine light on what he may have been doing and where

This includes;
IWQ 3 S of TT - I know S of TT is school of Technical Training and the 3 is the number of the school which I think was based in Blackpool. Not sure what the IWQ is.

206 group- I believe this is the 206 maintenance group based in eygpt. If anyone knows anymore information about this that would be great.

WWAAF- I think that's what is looks like can't find any information about what it could mean

I also found out he was in various parts of Italy towards the end of the war but can't find any l information as to what he may have been doing there.

Any and all information would be appreciated.

Thank you
Caitlin

Welcome to RootsChat!

IWQ 3 S of TT  actually reads 1Wg 3 S of TT where Wg = Wing

There would normally be three squadrons in a wing.

WWAAF could read NWAAF

NWAAF is bracketed with 121 MU in 1943.
121 MU was in North Africa and Sicily/Italy in 1943.

NWAAF could mean Northwest African Air Forces.
