You won't get a better scan because although Ambro's were very clear
there was some loss in definition when copied to albumin prints.
In addition I don't believe this is a married couple as it would be highly
unusual for a married woman not to have her left hand in a prominent position
showing her wedding ring.
Note: her left hand is holding the posy as this is in reverse (see previous post).

Can I suggest you change the title of your thread to “ Restore and Date  Old Photo Album …. “
That way the restorers will be alerted to your photo.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge, jim1. It's very insightful and good to know.

Good idea, Neale1961. I don't think I'm able to change the name of the title? It doesn't seem to give me the option.

Thanks all.

Welcome to Rootschat, clmagpie.

Here’s my try at a restore. In cropping the image I’ve made the dimensions about 10X12.

Could it be the same man as in your other photo (17higherdpirs)? If so, he looks a little less full in the face in this one (16rs), a bit more drawn. Could his wife have died in between and this is a second wife or (unmarried?) daughter perhaps?

Their facial features are similar so I would suggest that they could be Father and Daughter.

McGroger - Thank you so much! You've made it so much clearer. You can really see the features of their faces.

I'm not sure about it being the same man as the other photo (17higherdpirs), I can't see much of a resemblance, but I'm open to all opinions. Thank you.

Treetotal - That's my current way of thinking, too. I just wish my great-great-grandfather had identified them! Thank you.

I see that “posy of flowers” as a wee black puppy on her lap!

Now you say that, I can see a little doggy head/face.
