My grandmother wasn’t given her father’s surname, hers was Reid.

The only information I have on Malcolm Smith is that he was born in Toronto around 1902 and worked as a silversmith.

Family just arrived; I have a somewhat quick errand to run…

My brother has 36% (if I’m remembering correctly) Scottish DNA.  We have no known Scottish ancestors.  RootsChatters have mentioned that folks went back and forth, between Scotland and Ireland.  DNA can get muddled in the area.

Family is chatting, it’s difficult to concentrate, sorry.

I’m from the Toronto area.  I would enjoy trying to help when I return (perhaps an hour or so).  In the meantime, Sandra (and others) have been tremendously helpful regarding Ontario research.  Perhaps something can be found; don’t give up hope.  ;)

Wonder if the death would also be registered in the UK.
This is a year difference in the birth year out but is this possible ?
There should be a report of a UK citizen who died in the USA unless that's why the Consulate is listed on that death above.

UK Death Registration ????

Malcolm Maclemhan (Maclellan) Smith - 16 October 1903 - 1977 (aged 73 years)
Registration Date   Jan 1977 - Feb 1977 - Mar 1977
Registration Quarter   Jan-Feb-Mar   Surrey South Western
Volume   17 Page   1482

Added :- another to discount.

Maybe not this chap - he received a UK, World War II Civil Defence Gallantry Awards, 1940-1949 - 6 Holbin Mews, Sloane Square. SW1
Was a police constable for a year but occupation was a wine butler.

I really have no idea, suppose it really is a long shot trying to find out anymore information.

I would know nothing regarding my great grandfather if it hadn’t been for the help of the united church of Canada archives who had a whole file of information regarding my great grandmother.

My grandmother passed away last year not knowing who her father was and now that I finally have a name i would like to see if there is other family out there

She was born in 1931 in Toronto. Her parents were not married. My great grandmother had travelled to Canada from Ireland to work as a domestic from 1927.
