Hello, I am Lucy Flynn great granddaughter of Richard and Elizabeth Flynn, grand daughter of Richard Flynn born 1902, daughter of Stephen Flynn - I am struggling to find a birth registration or birth certificate. They lived at 19 Philip St during the 1911 census and I understand lived on Upper Yellow Road until at least the 1940's. I have searched the https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/ but no luck - any help would be very much appreciated.  Thank you

Hello,

I'm looking for the birth certs of all 3:
Great Grand parents Richard Flynn and Elizabeth Flynn (nee Merrinon or Mernin) who married 16th July 1898 and lived on Philip St.
Grandfather Richard Michael Flynn born 29th Sept 1902 baptised 5th Oct 1902 in Trinity Without.

I suspect Richard (1902) did not have his birth registered but I am wondering if he would have had one later on in life (not that we can find it).

Many thanks in advance. Lucy

Welcome to RootsChat, Lucy  :)

Just adding the link to the 1911 census-

House 19 in Philip Street (Waterford No. 3 Urban, Waterford).
https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Waterford/Waterford_No__3_Urban/Philip_Street/673835/

Young Richard was aged 7 so born c1904. Can't see a birth record for him in Waterford City.

For reference here's the 1911 census entry-
https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Waterford/Waterford_No__3_Urban/Philip_Street/673835/
Son Richard was age 7 in 1911 so born c1904 not 1902.

Here's the family in 1901-
https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Waterford/Waterford_Urban_No__3/May_Lane/1764912/

Elizabeth Christina's birth (she's their youngest child in 1911 census) gives mother's maiden name as Mernin which confirms marriage record-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1911/01526/1619264.pdf
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1899/10374/5777242.pdf (note groom's residence Lower Yellow Road)

Search with parents' surnames I can see births for Elizabeth (1901), David (1904), John (1905), Mary (1908), Elizabeth (1911) So, missing Thomas, Richard and Bridget (I can't find these 3 births registered).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

There is correspondence in Richard's military record about birth records and baptismal records for his children.

There is correspondence in Richard's military record about birth records and baptismal records for his children.

Richard was born 29 Sep 1902.  They had to supply a baptism certificate for him separately from the others but it is unclear whether those others were birth or baptism certs.
