William PENNOCK (1847) - baptism image
« on: Monday 08 April 24 00:06 BST (UK) »
Hello

William PENNOCK (later WRAY) was born on 22 June 1818 in Wetwang and baptised on 11 July 1847 in the Wetwang parish church. His mother was Mary PENNOCK. Mary married Benjamin WRAY later that year on 23 November 1847 in Great Driffield. Benjamin became the father and William used the name WRAY. The family moved to South Australia in 1850.

My question relates to the baptism. I have found three records of his baptism on FamilySearch, which I reproduce in full at the end of this message. Some of the recods (as transcribed) mention Benjamin. I am looking for an image of the original baptism registration? I want to know if Benjamin was actually mentioned on an original baptism, or whether this was later inserted. Are there any suggestions on obtaining an original image of the baptism register as registered in Wetwang? I believe the set from the Borthwick Institute for Archives might be the best source.

The FamilySearch site states I might be able to see an original image at a partner organisation, and I am making those enquiries here in Canberra.

William was the subject of another discussion in 2016 where some very helpful people helped find his birth registration (which I subsequently obtained a certified copy of) (https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=746456.msg5936899).

Thank you

Craig

Image of the original parish register is available to view on FindMyPast, which has good coverage of Yorkshire.

Thank you! But if you want to remove the image to avoid any issues, I can access the FindMyPast library edition.
