Pedro

You might want to contact the Weobley Historical Society for a different take on this, they helped me in tracing my family.

There were obits for Mary and John Wilson's daughter Clara Elizabeth (Wilson) Beager who died 1939 in Idaho. They were at newspapers.com but I couldn't access them.

Thanks oldohiohome, lots of great information there for me to add, that's fantastic. Really appreciate your help and the wealth of information you've provided me that I didn't have.

Shellyesq - thank you too for your help. I did not know that Gertrude was a widower when she married. Mary's death had come from a family member but I have no paper evidence. So am open to being corrected as always if there is evidence to prove otherwise.

Northern Geezer - thanks for the tip/link. I've been in touch with the records office for Weobley over the years but not tried/seen the historical society. So will drop them a few lines.

CaroleW - just re-read and think you're right to order the marriage certificate for George and Mary.

Shellyesq - maybe looking for coincidences here, and I'm really not familiar with USA marriage certificates... On the marriage certificate halfway down is the certification signing etc. There it has Ada Robinson Emma Smith and the word 'companed'?. Does anyone know what this means or who this person could have been or been recorded for? Am wondering if this could have been her sister? Am I putting 2+2 together and coming up with 5 or is this a realistic possibility?

If I read it right, Ada Robinson and Emma Smith "compared" the copy of the license or the certificate to the original, at the request of the minister who officiated. I haven't seen this before. Ada could be anyone, including Gertrude's sister.

The witnesses to the marriage might have told you something, but the only witness is the minister's wife.

possible source for date of death of Mary King (Lawrence) Wilson Jones:

On Mary King Lawrence' page on familysearch tree the last source mentioned is "Clara Wilson Beager's Bible."
The person who posted it is listed along side the source and if you click on his name, you will find his email address.

If it doesn't work for you, say so and I can PM you his name and email address. We can't post email addresses here and he might still be alive. The post was in 2020.
