There is also this record that has same service number, it has a few notes in front dated 1941, maybe someone with military knowledge can explain. Also transferred from Labour Corps to RFA in 1919 I think?

Jaques Colin R
Jaques Lily        --- dies 1949 age 65
Ward, Hilda I

No John Jaques listed. Why isn't he living with them?

Per the electoral registers he's back (at Mar-Mot, The Hatches, Frimley) in 1947 and is listed there until 1950.

First of all thank you all for your input into the research.
I am certain of the death dates as I went to his funeral. The marriage cert was supplied by his son Colin (Dick) Jacques my father-in-law (deceased).
The army stuff is very interesting and I will pursue. But you can see my problems as there is no definitive records. My father-in-law once took a trip up to Sommerset house to try to find a birth cert (I think for his pension) but could not find one so took one for where the father was a gentleman farmer. All I know about him is he was gassed in the trenches and worked down the mines. I did have a pint in his local pub with him once but never questioned him. I think maybe a trip up to the registrar office of Barnsley might be in order.

So if I understand this correctly, Colin got the birth certificate of John Jacques born 24 October 1890 (even though his father was born 15 October 1891) and used that 24 October birth date when giving information on his father's death in 1978? Also falsely stating that his father was 78 when he was actually 86?
