1690 Scottish Baptism Record
« on: Thursday 18 April 24 19:02 BST (UK) »
Once again, I'm coming to the experts for some deciphering help.  Here's where I am with the attached Scottish (Edinburgh) 1690 baptism record.

--------
John Boyd ?????? and Issobell Pollock a. s. n. John
W. mr John Paterson minister of the gospel
Alexander Mosman ??????? Archbald Boyd, George
Paterson by mr Alexander Malcolm
----------

- Could the occupation for John Boyd be "Garndner," i.e. an old spelling of Gardner?
- I have no clue about the occupation of Alexander Mosman.
- Alexander Mosman and Alexander Malcolm...I'm thinking the names that look sort of like "Alenk" are abbreviations for Alexander, but I'm not at all sure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

The first is Gairdner or gardener.
The second is cordinar or cordwainer, i.e. shoemaker.

Thanks!  I knew the meaning of a. s. n. and W.  But I couldn't quite decide if it looked like Alex r (with a superscript r) or not.  But it makes sense that it is.  I believe Alexander was a fairly common given name in that time.
