Birth Register R1
« on: Monday 29 April 24 15:52 BST (UK) »
Hi Everyone,

I have found a birth in 2005 and entered the details for the citation. Then during the list of results there is what appears to be a duplicate entry, but in a different registration district and has the Register Number of R1 ?

Never come across this before so any info would be greatly appriciated  :)

I am assuming that these are records of birth registrations where the parents are not married and therefore entered on the register with 2 different surnames.  I have not looked at all of the duplicate entries there but did not see one where the districts were different.

Hopefully AntonyMM will spot this post as he may be able to answer it for you.

To muddy the waters slightly, there is actually 4 entries, 2 under one surname and then 2 under another, each surname has a registration in each district and each has one entry under Register Number R1.

Why would the both be listed with different reference numbers and have never come across this situation before.

The person is still living so don't what to give away too much identifying info, sorry.
