Missing Davies brothers
« on: Saturday 04 May 24 13:21 BST (UK) »
Hello members, please can you help. My paternal great grandfather John Henry Davies ,was born at Llangyfelach in 1854. He married Susan Thompson and they lived together in Cardiff where they had 7 children.
Of those, I have a full picture for 5 of them.
However, 2 sons, Richard John Davies b 1881  and Alexander Windsor Davies b 1883, both from Cardiff, are causing problems. I have explored all the usual avenues and can find no trace of either after the census of 1901. At that point, their mother had died in 1895 and they were living in Cardiff with members of her family ( Thompson).
I would be most grateful if some clever person could discover their whereabouts.
Many thanks
C

There are several electoral rolls for  Alexander W Davies in Glamorgan
On ancestry site

For example 1945 dunraven court

Do you know exact birthdates to look for them in 1939 register

What were their professions in 1901 ?.

The head of household (from 1901 census) Alfred Thompson dies in 1919 - there is an obit in the Western Mail on 20 September 1919 which may give some details of the wider family.
[sorry I can't view the details as I don't have any subscriptions at the moment.]

Have looked at Western Mail obit. No details of family. I suspect they may have emigrated between 1901 and 1911.
Thanks to everyone for help. C
